Faith has already moved the mountain.

Have you read this verse?

Matthew 21:21

And Jesus answered them, “Truly, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what has been done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ it will happen.

Now.

What on earth was Jesus talking about?

If you have been listening to the faith preachers like Hagin, they will problem tell you it is the mountain of your problems.

They will tell you that your faith will move mountains. Heck even Celine Dion has a song about that.

It’s not.

Remember the Samaritan woman at the well. Well she said this.

John 4:20

Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, but you say that in Jerusalem is the place where people ought to worship.”

Now, notice she said that the Samaritans worship on a mountain. You must understand in those days people have this idea that the higher you are, the closer you are to God.

As such, mountains are usually where temples are built.

Notice something else?

She was actually comparing the mountain of the Samaritans and the Jews.

As such, Jerusalem is a mountain.

Now let’s look at the preamble to that “faith can move mountains” passage.

Matthew 21:1

Now when they drew near to Jerusalem

Again.

Matthew 21:12

And Jesus entered the temple and drove out all who sold and bought in the temple,

Matthew 21:18

In the morning, as he was returning to the city,

The city here is Jerusalem.

Matthew 21:23

And when he entered the temple,

Can you see the verses sandwiching the “faith can move mountains” verse?

What is that mountain?

It’s the Temple Mount in Jerusalem.

As such when Jesus was talking about this to his Jewish disciples, he was referring to the Temple of Jerusalem.

If Jesus is alive today, this is what he would have phrased it.

“To hell with the mountain”. What he actually means thus is this:

To hell with the Old Covenant.

Now.

Read this.

Revelation 8:8

The second angel blew his trumpet, and something like a great mountain, burning with fire, was thrown into the sea, and a third of the sea became blood.

In AD70 the Temple in Jerusalem was overthrown by the Romans. It was set on fire and was literally thrown into the mercy of the sea of Gentiles which surrounded it.

You can see it here too.

Revelation 11:2

but do not measure the court outside the temple; leave that out, for it is given over to the nations, and they will trample the holy city for forty-two months.

So you see Jesus was saying the Law was about to end THEN.

The mountain in question has been removed and casted into the sea. It is no more.

That’s how you look at that “faith that move mountains”. In truth the mountain against you is no more.

You can now do all things through Jesus who strengthens you.
