One of the biggest mistakes we make about scripture is that we assume being born again is about our souls.
Let me demonstrate to you.
I want to show you that it’s about the whole creation.
1 John 2:17-18
And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever. Little children, it is the last hour; and as you have heard that the Antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come, by which we know that it is the last hour.
You see that John spoke about a world which was at the last hour, then.
You then see the refrain by Paul here.
1 Corinthians 7:31
and those who use this world as not misusing it. For the form of this world is passing away.
The world was passing away then, at least in that form.
For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.
Here again you note Jesus died at the end of that world.
When Paul said this.
For the creation waits in eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed. For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the freedom and glory of the children of God.
Paul was not referring to the future. He was referring to AD70. The end of the world according to the Law.
This is because the way the sons are revealed is through the release of humanity from the Law.
But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption to sonship. Because you are his sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, the Spirit who calls out, “Abba, Father.”
That world perished when the Law perished.
For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.
One must understand Jesus said that when the Temple (heaven and earth) fell, then heaven and earth will pass away.
You can see Jesus saying this here.
Truly I tell you, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.
Heaven and earth was the temple.
See the preamble to this passage.
“Do you see all these things?” he asked. “Truly I tell you, not one stone here will be left on another; every one will be thrown down.”
Hebrews tell us that the new heaven will come after the Temple is destroyed.
The Holy Spirit was showing by this that the way into the Most Holy Place had not yet been disclosed as long as the first tabernacle was still functioning.
The born again experience is not exclusive to Christians. Rather it’s an experience for everyone.
Every one had been born again.
1 Peter 1:3
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
It was through the resurrection of Christ.
Some of you from the IO movement would argue it applies to Israel. Be that as it may, that’s not the point.
The point is that God is more inclusive than Christianity has taught us.
The Love of God is not limited to your choice of faith. It is his choice to include us into his Son.
That’s how he loves us. By confirming our image to his Son’s.
