The sun is not about the sun.

There are many people who tell you to look to the stars and cosmic universe to decipher when Jesus will come.

Joel 2:10

Before them the earth shakes,

the heavens tremble,

the sun and moon are darkened,

and the stars no longer shine.

So they ask you to look at blood moons and eclipses.

Let’s look at the verse in its context.

Joel 2:2-11

a day of darkness and gloom,

a day of clouds and blackness.

Like dawn spreading across the mountains

a large and mighty ARMY comes,

such as never was in ancient times

nor ever will be in ages to come.

Before them fire devours,

behind them a flame blazes.

Before them the land is like the garden of Eden,

behind them, a desert waste —

nothing escapes them.

They have the appearance of horses;

they gallop along like cavalry.

With a noise like that of chariots

they leap over the mountaintops,

like a crackling fire consuming stubble,

like a mighty ARMY drawn up for battle.

At the sight of them, nations are in anguish;

every face turns pale.

They charge like warriors;

they scale walls like SOLDIERS.

They all MARCH in line,

not swerving from their course.

They do not jostle each other;

each MARCHES straight ahead.

They plunge through defenses

without breaking ranks.

They rush upon the city;

they run along the wall.

They climb into the houses;

like thieves they enter through the windows.

Before them the earth shakes,

the heavens tremble,

the sun and moon are darkened,

and the stars no longer shine.

The Lord thunders

at the head of his ARMY;

his forces are beyond number,

and mighty is the ARMY that obeys his command.

The day of the Lord is great;

it is dreadful.

Who can endure it?

Rend Your Heart

The context there is speaking about the coming of an ARMY. Not cosmic signs.

In fact this is what Jesus said here.

Matthew 24:15-16

“So when you see standing in the holy place ‘the abomination that causes desolation,’ spoken of through the prophet Daniel—let the reader understand— then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.

What people may not know is that Luke actually defines what this ABOMINATION is about.

Luke 21:20

“When you see Jerusalem being surrounded by armies, you will know that its desolation is near.”

A GENTILE ARMY inside the holy grounds of Jerusalem. Hence an abomination.

Now some of you may then argue that this is the Chinese army.

So. Let us now turn to the same chapter in Joel again.

Do you see this statement?

Joel 2:2

a day of darkness and gloom,

a day of clouds and blackness.

Like dawn spreading across the mountains

a large and mighty army comes,

such as NEVER WAS in ancient times

NOR EVER WILL BE in ages to come.

Sounds familiar?

That’s because it was something Jesus said when he was talking about the sun moon and stars.

Matthew 24:21

For then there will be great distress, unequaled from the beginning of the world UNTIL NOW —and never to be equaled again.

Now notice Jesus added the words “UNTIL NOW”. Jesus actually said it was his generation that would observe these things.

Matthew 24:34

Truly I tell you, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened.

So. The army which would cause the fall of the sun moon and stars was the Roman army in AD70.

It’s over.

There is not going to be anymore end of the world or falling of stars.

Start living.
