For goodness sake, the flesh no longer exists!

People tell you that you need to keep in step with the Spirit so that you will not sow in the Flesh.

Let me make this submission to you.

What is sowing in the Flesh?

Now note the chapter and verse Paul used to teach this.

Galatians 6:8

Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.

It’s Galatians 6. Now in order for us to understand what he said we cannot stop there. We have to read further.

Galatians 6:12

Those who want to impress people by means of the flesh are trying to compel you to be circumcised. The only reason they do this is to avoid being persecuted for the cross of Christ.

As such, sowing in the Flesh is actually circumcision. It’s simple really. It’s means doing something to a part of your body to symbolise your return to the Old Covenant. Keeping the Law.

Now look at this.

Galatians 6:13

Not even those who are circumcised keep the law, yet they want you to be circumcised that they may boast about your circumcision in the flesh.

Now listen to what Paul said.

Galatians 6:15

Neither circumcision nor uncircumcision means anything; what counts is the new creation.

And before that.

Galatians 6:14

May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.

So what was Paul saying.

He is saying that the Flesh is actually reliance on the Old Covenant and the Law of Moses.

The Law ended in AD70. The Law no longer exists. As such it is impossible to sow in the flesh today.

That is why I told you in an earlier post, the whole humanity is already crucified with Christ.

I am not the only one who said it.

Galatians 6:14-15

May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. Neither circumcision nor uncircumcision means anything; what counts is the new creation.

The new creation is the humanity that was born from Jesus after AD70. It’s all of us.

  1. Could you please expound 1 John 2:15-17? It sounds like a condemnation of basically anything we might do for fun. At least that’s how I’ve heard one person interpret it.

    • So often we hear of verses as such and condemn ourselves by saying we are worldly.

15 Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father[d] is not in them. 16 For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world. 17 The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever.

However is this what the Bible is saying?

I want us to look at the next verse.

18 Dear children, this is the last hour; and as you have heard that the antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come. This is how we know it is the last hour. 19 They went out from us, but they did not really belong to us. For if they had belonged to us, they would have remained with us; but their going showed that none of them belonged to us.

I want us to see that when John said that the world would pass away, he was saying it was already the last hour. In other words the “world” there was the old covenant world. Not our world.

As such the phrase “lust of he flesh, lust of the eyes and the pride of life” has nothing to do with us but the sinful desires aroused by the Law.

Romans 7:5 For when we were in the realm of the flesh,[a] the sinful passions aroused by the law were at work in us, so that we bore fruit for death.

1 Corinthians 15:56 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.

Worldliness is friend with the Old Covenant

I sincerely hope this helps you.
