It’s not. Here’s why.
1. It is a Jewish book.
“According to the Talmud it is open on Rosh Hashanah, as is its analog for the wicked, the Book of the Dead. For this reason extra mention is made for the Book of Life during Amidah recitations during the Days of Awe, the ten days between Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish new year, and Yom Kippur, the day of atonement (the two High Holidays, particularly in the prayer Unetaneh Tokef).”
Hence don’t worry it’s not about you.
2. It was opened in AD70.
This is what Daniel says.
The End Times
“At that time Michael, the great prince who protects your people, will arise. There will be a time of distress such as has not happened from the beginning of nations until then. But at that time your people—everyone whose name is found written in the book—will be delivered. Multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake: some to everlasting life, others to shame and everlasting contempt.
This what Jesus says.
For then there will be great distress, unequaled from the beginning of the world until now—and never to be equaled again.
A few moments later he said this.
Truly I tell you, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened.
So you can see he was quoting Daniel and he said it would happen within his generation. That’s 40 years.
Now read this.
“From the time that the daily sacrifice is abolished and the abomination that causes desolation is set up, there will be 1,290 days.”
Jesus said the abomination that causes the desolation is actually this.
“When you see Jerusalem being surrounded by armies, you will know that its desolation is near.”
If you bother to read history you will note Jerusalem was surrounded by the Romans in AD70 for 43 months before it was destroyed. From AD67 to AD70.
So you will read this.
Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. The earth and the heavens fled from his presence, and there was no place for them. And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what they had done. Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death. Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire.
Now when you read Daniel it says the same thing.
Multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake: some to everlasting life, others to shame and everlasting contempt. Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars for ever and ever.
You will read about the siege of Jerusalem, the tribulation and the resurrection all within the same chapter of Daniel 12.
Again this happened in AD70.
This happened on the day the Temple was destroyed. You became the new Temple of God on that day. That’s how we are saved.
May this New Year bring an end to this myth.
To be continued.
