Questions about judgement after death.

Do we go to heaven or hell immediately after we die? Then why were the sins in the Old Testament judged only in the generation which Jesus came to?

Here are some very perplexing verses….

Matthew 23:33-37

“You snakes! You brood of vipers! How will you escape being condemned to hell? Therefore I am sending you prophets and sages and teachers.

Some of them you will kill and crucify; others you will flog in your synagogues and pursue from town to town.

And so upon you will come all the righteous blood that has been shed on earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah son of Berekiah, whom you murdered between the temple and the altar.

Truly I tell you, all this will come on this generation.

“Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were not willing.”

If the sins of the Old Testament were only visited on the Jews in AD70, what about ours since we are all born after AD70?

Will there wrath upon us now? Or has the wrath of God be satisfied?

Here is a verse to think about.

Revelation 15:1
I saw in heaven another great and marvelous sign: seven angels with the seven last plagues—last, because with them God’s wrath is completed.

You do know Revelation is in the past right?

  1. Good morning Simon. I believe that when a person dies that is not a child of God their life is over. There is nothing left for them except to decay in the grave. No more suffering, pain, etc. They only exist in the in the memories of those who knew them. Their life is completely over. I don’t see how a loving, caring God would inflict eternal pain on those who chose not to believe>
