The way God loves.

You cannot have more of God.

Colossians 1:19
For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell;

Colossians 2:10
and you have been filled in him, who is the head of all rule and authority.

God doesn’t give himself to you in instalments. The bible does not say God gives you in blessings by apportionments. It says he pours himself into you.

Romans 5:5
and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.

So why do we sing more of you?
We do that because in our minds and in our theology we have a god who loves us sparingly.

The bible does not say that. The Bible says that God did not spare his Son.

Romans 8:32
He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things?

I would like to think the most precious thing to God is his Son. So if God gave you his Son, he has nothing else to spare.

So he loves us unsparingly. Nothing left for himself. Nothing except you. So he emptied eternity for you.

Philippians 2:7
but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men.

He did this because he left a his eternal heart for you to fill. That’s how much God loves you.

Unsparingly.

Whole heartedly.

Eternally.

Consumingly.

Fully.

Romans 8:38-39
For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers,

nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
