The way is the outer court.
The truth is the inner court.
The life is the Holy of Holies.
Jesus was saying he was the new temple. Hence no one comes to the father except through him.
The outer court is called the sea.

When Jesus spoke about heaven and earth, he actually mentioned it twice. First in Matthew 5. He also said it here.
Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.
Look at the preamble of the chapter.
Jesus left the TEMPLE and was walking away when his disciples came up to him to call his attention to its buildings. “Do you see all these things?” he asked. “Truly I tell you, not one stone here will be left on another; every one will be thrown down.”
That’s how “heaven and earth” will pass away. This will happen to the temple.
