What did God condemn?

We must really get rid of this idea that God loves to condemn the sinner for his sins.

Romans 8:3
For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:

He condemn Sin in the body of His Son. It does not say even God condemned His Son.

He condemned Sin.

We must look at sin as a disease not as a crime. It is like a alien tumour that must be taken out but for it to be stop spreading, it had to be transferred to an uninfected body and destroyed together with that “holy” body.

So please don’t condemn people for their sins. Condemn the sin for what it does to the sinner.

And please stop telling everyone Jesus saved us from God’s anger towards humanity. He was never angry with humanity except for one generation. He was angry with sin.

Jesus came so that God could cut that tumour from mankind and have it placed in the body of Jesus to kill it once and for all.

That’s what the writer of Hebrews meant by “he took the sins of the world away once and for all”.

We must understand that sin only became a crime when the Law was given.

Romans 4:15
15 because law brings wrath. And where there is no law there is no transgression.

Hence it is the Law that demanded that God’s “justice be done” and the “wrath of God” be manifested.

The “wrath” did not originate from God. It came from the Law.

Romans 4:15
15 because law brings wrath.

That’s why the writer of Hebrews tells us the concept of appeasing God did not come from God but by the Law.

Hebrews 10:8
8 First he said, “Sacrifices and offerings, burnt offerings and sin offerings you did not desire, nor were you pleased with them” (although the law required them to be made).

So the problem had always been than mankind has tried to eradicate sin as a crime.

So what the Law was powerless to do, must be read as treating sin like a crime and not like a disease.

That is why there is no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus. He was the cure. Our sins were cut from us and placed into His Body. His Body was cursed, condemned, abused, laid on with all kinds of diseases, stripped naked as Sin was being condemned in His Body.

With regards the Law. Jesus outwardly was treated like a criminal. He lost His life to deal with the punishment inflicted by the Law.

So, Jesus did not pay a debt you owed to God. He pay a debt you owed to the Law.

Hence Jesus did not save you from an angry God. He saved you from the curse of the Law.

What the Law could not do, God sent Jesus. He finished the job the Law could not do.
