Marriage of the Lamb.

When I was younger I was told Jesus will “when the trumpet shall sound” or that he will return at the festival of the trumpets.

Joel 2:1
An Army of Locusts

1 Blow the trumpet in Zion;

sound the alarm on my holy hill.

Let all who live in the land tremble,

for the day of the Lord is coming.

It is close at hand.

If you read Joel 2 you would see similarities in what Jesus says in Matthew 24.

Joel 2:10
10 Before them the earth shakes,

the sky trembles,

the sun and moon are darkened,

and the stars no longer shine.

Also there are thieves mentioned.

Joel 2:9
9 They rush upon the city;

they run along the wall.

They climb into the houses;

like thieves they enter through the windows.

It is also called the day of the wedding.

Joel 2:16
16 Gather the people,

consecrate the assembly;

bring together the elders,

gather the children,

those nursing at the breast.

Let the bridegroom leave his room

and the bride her chamber.

I want us to see this.

The prophecy in Joel has already happen in the days of the Acts of the Apostles.

Joel 2:28
The Day of the Lord

28 “And afterward,

I will pour out my Spirit on all people.

Your sons and daughters will prophesy,

your old men will dream dreams,

your young men will see visions.

Joel also speaks about the invasion of the Roman army.

Joel 2:4-7
4 They have the appearance of horses;

they gallop along like cavalry.

5 With a noise like that of chariots

they leap over the mountaintops,

like a crackling fire consuming stubble,

like a mighty army drawn up for battle.

6 At the sight of them, nations are in anguish;

every face turns pale.

7 They charge like warriors;

they scale walls like soldiers.

They all march in line,

not swerving from their course.

Let us then examine what the sounding of the trumpet is for.

Joel 2:15
15 Blow the trumpet in Zion,

declare a holy fast,

call a sacred assembly.

It is to prepare the marriage of the Lamb.

Joel 2:16
16 Gather the people,

consecrate the assembly;

bring together the elders,

gather the children,

those nursing at the breast.

Let the bridegroom leave his room

and the bride her chamber.

Note this. These events happened in AD70. That was when the trumpet sounded.

When the temple and Jerusalem was destroyed, the Law ended. The era of Grace began.

That’s what happen to the Jews. They were married to the Law. Jesus came and provided the death that allowed the Jews to e legally detached to the Law.

They now have a news husband which is Christ.

That was what Paul was talking about.

Romans 7:1-4
An Illustration From Marriage

1 Do you not know, brothers –for I am speaking to men who know the law–that the law has authority over a man only as long as he lives?

2 For example, by law a married woman is bound to her husband as long as he is alive, but if her husband dies, she is released from the law of marriage.

3 So then, if she marries another man while her husband is still alive, she is called an adulteress. But if her husband dies, she is released from that law and is not an adulteress, even though she marries another man.

4 So, my brothers, you also died to the law through the body of Christ, that you might belong to another, to him who was raised from the dead, in order that we might bear fruit to God.

You were separated from the Law by Jesus’s death. You were married to grace through his resurrection.

The marriage of the Lamb already happen in AD70. When the Temple in Jerusalem was destroyed we became the new temple. That’s how we got married to him.

The trumpet had sounded already. You the Father, Son and the Spirit are now one. Bounded together forever.

Under the old covenant you can be separated by death. Do you know under the new covenant not even death can separate this new marriage?

Romans 8:38-39
38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Not even death.

Know who you are glorious bride.

I pray that you are blessed.
