The myth of God punishing you for Adam’s sins.

IMG_4607.JPG

There are people who say that “We are NOT born sinners. It’s unfair for God to punish us for Adam’s sins”.

Friends you are NOT punished for Adam’s sins or even for your sins. Jesus is the one that bore your punishment and Adam’s sins.

The only punishment comes when you reject this substitutory death and his open arms of forgiveness.

Matthew 23:37
O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!

He wants to. He always wanted to. We on the other hand must be willing.

As such please note sin is not a crime. It is a sickness. It resulted in alienation from God in our minds and thereafter death.

Since it is a sickness we die because it is Adam who infected us with this disease. Jesus is our healer of this sin.

Please note that the Law demanded we who sin be stoned because that was how that sickness is stop. So it was the Law that made this sickness a crime.

That’s what Paul meant when the Law came in, it brought a trespass.

The Law could never healed sin. It merely made it worse.

It was never healed.

On the cross, he took our sins away. He also took on our sicknesses and disease. Including sin. He also took the Law away. That’s how he also took the condemnation away.

Hence in Christ, we no longer die. We sleep.

  1. You are right saying that sin is a sickness. The way the Apostle Paul describes the sin nature in Romans 7:15-25 it sounds a lot like a viral infection.

Romans 7:18-20, ” I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. For what I do is not the good I want to do; no, the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing. Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.”

Paul reiterates this a few times in the 7th chapter. Then in the 8th chapter verse 1-2 he says,

“Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death.”

Why do we not hear this message in the modern church? Are they afraid that the people will not feel shamed into coming to church and pay their tithes?
