21 The twelve gates were twelve pearls, each gate made of a single pearl. The great street of the city was of pure gold, like transparent glass.
22 I did not see a temple in the city, because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. 23 The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp. 24 The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their splendor into it.
Dear all we have constantly been looking at these verses and think of heaven as a lovely place with streets of gold.
If you look at the old temple you will realise that the walls of the temple is covered with gold. Inside the gold is wood.
Pastor Joseph Prince in his teaching has always linked this to the believer as wood represents humanity and gold the righteousness of God which is in you. So while people see you as wood God sees inside and sees righteousness.
That is the old Temple. The new Jerusalem is also linked to a temple. Except this time is the new Temple.
John describes it this way.
3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God.
Paul tells us that the new Temple is not made by human hands but built by people who are living stones.
1 Peter 2:4-5
The Living Stone and a Chosen People
4 As you come to him, the living Stone –rejected by men but chosen by God and precious to him– 5 you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
So this new city of Jerusalem is not city build by bricks and stones buy believers as the living stones and Jesus as the cornerstone. The stone that the Pharisees and Jews rejected.
It is a house and city build by the Father on Christ and the work of the apostles. That is why the foundations contain the names of the apostles.
14 The wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them were the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.
So what in the world is the streets of Gold?
The new Jerusalem is made of righteous people. This time their righteousness is no covered with wood. They are now the righteousness of God in Christ.
And they now flood the streets.
You are the new house. You are the new Temple. The gold in you is no longer inside. It’s now shining everywhere.
When Paul tells us we will be transformed when the veil of Moses is taken away he wasn’t just talking about the Law. He was also talking about the Temple.
You use to see the Spirit through the veil. Now you see him face to face. Your face now behold his glory. You are now shinning. The wood is taken away. His light is shining on your face.
The streets in heaven are gold because you are walking on it.
I hope you are blessed. For the brother I am dedicating to. You will walk out of the hospital healed.
