People ask me why did the manna last only for a day?
I believe it was because the Lord wanted them to rely on Him to be the provider. To recognise the fact if you use your self effort to gather your providence will only result on the manifestation of how ugly your flesh is.
20 However, some of them paid no attention to Moses; they kept part of it until morning, but it was full of maggots and began to smell. So Moses was angry with them.
There were told to put a jar of manna in the ark. Kept manna. Human effort. Now the Hebrew word for ‘ark’ is ‘coffin’.
Here is the good news. The tomb of Jesus is the real ark of the covenant. Notice the two angels seated. One on the head rest of Jesus, the other where the feet of Jesus was placed.
Notice what Paul says here.
11 In him you were also circumcised, in the PUTTING OFF of the sinful nature, not with a circumcision done by the hands of men but with the circumcision done by Christ,
12 having been buried with him in baptism and raised with him through your faith in the power of God, who raised him from the dead.
13 When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your sinful nature, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins,
14 having canceled the written code, with its regulations, that was against us and that stood opposed to us; he took it away, NAILING it to the cross.
Note this is where our flesh self effort has been removed. The maggots and the smell are placed in the coffin.
We are now the aroma of Christ.
2 Corinthians 2:15
15 For we are to God the aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing.
14 When the dew was gone, thin flakes like frost on the ground appeared on the desert floor.
31 The people of Israel called the bread manna. It was white like coriander seed and tasted like wafers made with honey.
Isn’t the Lord good? Right smack in the desert God’s providence came in the form of iced vanilla wafers with honey. Can’t wait to have vanilla ice-cream with honey later.
