His Grace Is Enough


When Hebrews 1:3 speaks about Jesus purifying sins at the Cross prior to his ascension to heaven, did that include the purification of future sins as well as past sins?

In order to answer this question we need to understand that Hebrews is written to a Jewish audience and in so doing compares and contrasts Old Covenant animal sacrifices with the New Covenant sacrifice of Jesus. Note the following parallel and contrast.

Hebrews 10:11-12 (New International Version)

11Day after day every priest stands and performs his religious duties; again and again he offers the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. 12But when this priest [Jesus] had offered for all time one sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God.
