God the Mother: Debunking the teaching of the World Missions Society Church

I had in the last month received questions in relation to a term “God the Mother”. Having done a bit of research I had realise it is a cult. I do did it disturbing however when this cult is able to confuse believers. Some of the issues they raise are: The New Jerusalem is our mother and that since Jesus is the Son of God who the is the mother? This in fact is a modern form of Babylon. It was  founded by Nimrod and his mother.

This form of religion has since incarnated into many different forms. Isis, Baal, Sing Mo, Jesus and Mary  its not new

By the way here’s Edmond’s question.

“Hope you are doing well. Praise God for all He has done for you. I have a request for you. Can you please explain to me what does Rev.3:11-13 means?? I am approached by these ppl who are from the Church of God and they believe the existence of God The Mother and all kind of things that they show me from the bible itself (e.g :Rev.21:9)..

  • These people have been confusing me quite some time but I just cant believe that The Lord Jesus has come and gone. After searching from Wikipedia, I found that they believe the name of the Holy Spirit is Ahn Sahng-hong, which is the second came Christ (what they believe).

All these confusion is from The Rev.3:11-13, I believe. Morever, not only the members of Church of God that believes this, but also the Baha’is.

I really want to know what the Lord wants to tell us all regarding those verses.

Thank you and may God bless you always.”

    Here’s our answer.

  • Edmond it is very important to know that salvation for a Jew and a Gentile is rather different. Although both Jew and Gentile receive salvation by receiving Jesus, a Jew unlike the Gentile is awaiting the coming of the kingdom of god. We Gentiles look to heaven while they look towards a kingdom where their Messiah would come. They look forward to a kingdom with an actual king. In this sense their salvation is ‘not’ complete. It will be complete when Jesus returns. As such they look toward a new kingdom with a new temple.

You may ask what is this pilar thing. In the old temple names are inscribetoo to the temple pillars to commemorate the name of the holy people. Boaz and Daniel are two such names. Peter tells us God is building a temple where Jesus is the cornerstone and we are the living stones.

Now with respect to the crown. Can you lose their crown? The crown of life is mention in James.

    James 1:12
12 Blessed are those who persevere under trial, because when they have stood the test, they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.

I don’t believe this is the crown that is being referred here. The church which this letter is addressed to is Philippi.

What is this crown then? See.

    Philippians 4:1
Closing Appeal for Steadfastness and Unity

1 Therefore, my brothers and sisters, you whom I love and long for, my joy and crown, stand firm in the Lord in this way, dear friends!

It is the joy that accompanies salvation that Jesus is concerned about.

So to a Jew his salvation is only complete when Jesus restores the kingdom. First by bringing down from heaven a new Jerusalem.

Cities are often referred to as women.

Paul says in Galatians that our mother is the new Jerusalem. This means we are under grace not law. Remember he said Hagar is law and Sarah is grace?

So it does not talk about mother god.

Now with respect to the bride in Rev. 21. This is the bride of Jesus. Who is that? Joseph is a typical picture of Jesus. His wife is not a Hebrew but Gentile. Joseph had a Gentile wife. The bride of Jesus is the gentile church. Remember in Ephesians 5? Paul says that husbands love your wife as Christ loved the church. We are that church. His body. His love. It does not refer to Mother God.

You have to understand Jesus being begotten Son of God doesn’t mean he is borne out of God through a mother.

The Son of God is an office. It does not mean he is his father’s. He was called the Word before His incarnation. The son of god is a reference in Psalm 2. He humbled himself being the eternal Word equal with God he made himself the Son. That’s why you see these words.

    Psalms 2:7
    7 I will proclaim the LORD’s decree:
    He said to me, ‘You are my son;
today I have become your father.

Note it is for the sake of ‘TODAY’ the eternal Word became the Son.

    Paul puts it this way.

    Philippians 2:6-9
6 Who, being in very nature God,
    did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage;
7 rather, he made himself nothing
by taking the very nature of a servant,
    being made in human likeness.
8 And being found in appearance as a human being,
    he humbled himself
    by becoming obedient to death–
    even death on a cross!

9 Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,

That’s Jesus is called the Son. He became God’s Son by choice not by birth. Do you know why he did that? Because He loves you.

  1. God is mother, too. God is love. Women are affectionate…where do women get the ability to show love in diff. ways.

  2. That’s not the point. This new cult teaches there’s another person in the Godhead called God the Mother distinctly from God the Father.

  3. There has always been God the mother! She is the praise of the earth! She has been reviled by our heavenly father in these last days that we are living in have faith
