“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning.” Jesus was God even in the beginning. John did not say He is God from the begiining but He was God in tne beginning. Jesus was God even before the beginning. The mind boggling thing is this John calls Him the Debar.
Jesus is the Eternal Word. In Hebrew “Word” is “Debar”. It also means Deed. Jesus always does what He says. He is both God’s word and God’s action. Our salvation as such lies in the fact that He does what He says and the fact that His Word is His Deed. That is how we are saved we rely on what He says and what He does. …Too often we think is what He says and what We do. That my friends have to change!
Jesus Is the Final Word: Hebrews declares this. It tells us that Jesus the Word is greater than that of the word of the Angels. The word of the Angels was the law: Hebrews 2:2. Jesus the Word is greater than the Angels’. Hence the Law was given to Moses by the Angels, Grace and Truth came personally from the Father thru His Final Word His Son.
The Word in Greek is “Logos”. The Philopshy. The Logic. The Science behind it all. Just take note a note of these words: BioLOGY, TheLOGY, PhysoLOGY, MusicoLOGY and etc. They come from this word “LOGOS”. Jesus is the LOGOS the one behind it ALL. The very system that makes it run. And the great thing is this in this LOGOS we find LIFE! The LIFE of ALL MEN. Friends we are looking for life in all the Logic you can study. The real LIFE is the one who is behind all this LOGIC. Paul calls Him our Wisdom. John calls Him the life of the cosmos.
The Word became flesh and dwelled among us. What an incredible statement! Light became life. Manna became man. Eternity stepped into time. The Word dwelled among us. Grace and Truth dwelled among us. What an announcement! Grace and Truth is here among us. The glory of the Law is fading away. Grace and Truth is among us… and now in us. Love became God’s Word which is FOR us nd His Deed which is DONE for us!
And the Word became flesh, and did tabernacle among us, and we beheld his glory, glory as of an only begotten of a father, full of grace and truth. John in his originaltext says that his glory was of begotten of “a Father” and “not the Father” as suggested in the NIV. The glory is that Jesus was a Son to a Father. Then John says we beheld His Glory. The glory is not that Jesus is the Son to the Father but a son to a father. John is saying we become part of that glory when we too are made sons to the same father. We enter the same relationship Jesus has with the Father.
“And the Word became flesh, and did TABERNACLE among us, and we beheld his glory, glory as of an only begotten of a father, full of grace and truth.” I love this. The real Tabernacle is not where the priests offer the blood of goats and bulls. Our real Tabernacle is our Lord Jesus. He is the Way (outer court), The Truth (inner court) and The Life (the Holy of Holies). And He tabernacle among us. US! US!!! He loves to dwell amongHis people! The tabernacle among US. Unlike the old tabernacle, where there is death…the new living tabernacle is among His people. No wonder the writer of Hebrews calls it the new and living way!
